St. Albert Recreation & Sports Cultural Club
Terms and Conditions for Members and Guests.
1. Introduction
This document outlines the terms and conditions for membership in the Stars Club, which rents facilities from the City of St. Albert for sports activities, including volleyball and badminton. By signing the membership application form, members acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to abide by these terms and conditions.
2. Safety and Participation
- Members participate in activities at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.
- Members must follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided by facility staff, coaches, club coordinators, and volunteers.
- Members with health concerns or injuries must inform the club before participating.
3. Facility Use and Conduct
- Members must respect and protect the facilities, equipment, staff of the City of St. Albert, club coordinators, and volunteers.
- Members are expected to behave in a sportsmanlike and respectful manner.
- Any damage to facilities or equipment will be the responsibility of the member(s) involved.
- Water bottles are permitted in the school gyms.
- No other food or beverage is permitted in the School Gyms.
- Smoking, vaping and alcohol consumption are prohibited in the facility.
- The City of St. Albert and The STARS Club are not liable for loss or damage to personal items brought into the facility.
- In the event of any injury, accident, or damage, members and guests are required to notify a Club coordinator or designated staff member promptly. This notification is essential for incident reporting and insurance purposes.
4. Safety and Supervision of Children
- Children 12 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times while in the school facility and must be under the adult's direct supervision.
- Adults can drop off young adults between the ages of 13-16, but parents/guardians are still responsible for their child's actions and safety.
- Parents/Guardians are solely responsible for the safety and well-being of their children while on facility premises. The club does not provide childcare or supervision, and will not appoint any staff or volunteers for the supervision of children.
5. Facility Usage Rules for Children
- Children must remain within the designated gym area at all times during activities.
- Parents/Guardians are responsible for supervising their children and ensuring compliance with all facility, venue, and school gym rules and regulations.
6. Parental Responsibility
- Parents/Guardians are responsible for their child's actions, behavior, and safety while participating in club activities.
- Parents/Guardians must ensure their child is properly equipped and prepared for activities.
7. Risk Acknowledgement and Release Form
- All members must fill out a Risk Acknowledgement and Release Form form prior to participating in club activities.
- A parent or guardian must sign the Risk Acknowledgement and Release Form for children under 17 years old.
8. Membership Fees and Payments
- Annual membership holders opting for monthly payments and Monthly membership holders shall pay membership fees on or before the 1st day of each month.
- Annual membership holders paying annually shall pay membership fees on or before January 1st each year.
- Fees are non-refundable unless otherwise specified.
9. Termination of Membership
- The club reserves the right to terminate membership for any reason, including:
- Non-payment of fees
- Breach of terms and conditions
- Conduct detrimental to the club or its members
10. Cancellation of Membership
A Member may cancel their Single/Family membership upon providing written notice to The STARS Club with a minimum of two (2) weeks' notice period. The Member shall be responsible for paying all outstanding dues and fees accrued prior to and during the notice period. Cancellation shall be effective upon completion of the notice period, provided all outstanding amounts have been paid in full.
11. Footwear Policy
- Only clean, indoor footwear is permitted on the gym courts.
- Outdoor shoes must be removed and left at the main entrance.
- Members must wear indoor shoes or be barefoot while participating in activities.
- Socks only are not permitted on the gym floor.
12. Equipment Usage Policy
- Members and guests (including children) are strictly prohibited from using facility equipment.
- When provided by the facility, net standards for volleyball and badminton must be returned to their designated storage location after use.
13. Guest Policy
- To bring guests under a principal applicant, please notify club coordinators in advance-
- Guests shall be subject to the same terms and conditions as the principal applicant.
14. Liability and Indemnification
- Members release and hold harmless the Stars Club, the City of St. Albert, and their officials, employees, volunteers and agents from any liability for personal injury, property damage, or other loss.
- Members agree to indemnify the club and the City of St. Albert for any losses or damages resulting from their actions.
15. Cleanliness and Waste Disposal
Members are responsible for cleaning up after themselves, their guests and their children, and disposing of all garbage generated during their use of the facility in designated receptacles.
16. Updates to Terms and Conditions
STARS Club reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Amendments will be effective immediately upon posting on our official channels (website, social media, email). We'll inform members of significant changes through these channels.
17. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by, and construed and interpreted in accordance with, the laws of the Province of Alberta and the bylaws of the STARS Club, without regard to principles of conflicts of laws.
Memberships and Fees Structure:
Single/Family Annual Membership details are as follows:
Family Membership (Annual):
Family memberships are available to natural persons with families who are living in the city of St. Albert or surrounding areas. A Family Unit shall consist of the applicant, their spouse, and / or their dependent children residing at the same address,collectively referred to as the Family Members.
Family Membership (Annual) is a membership category available for a year, renewable on an annual basis, renewable annually, subject to the terms and conditions.
To be eligible for a family membership in the STARS club, an applicant must satisfy the following conditions:

Be part of a Family Unit as defined above.

Applicant should be at least seventeen (17) years of age;

Be in good standing with the club, with no outstanding dues or fees.
Single Membership (Annual):
Individual membership in the Club shall be available to natural persons who are living in the city of St. Albert or surrounding areas.
Single Membership (Annual) is a membership category available for an year, renewable annually, subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the Club's Bylaws.
To be eligible for a single membership in the STARS club, an applicant must satisfy the following conditions: .

Membership Fees Structure:
Registration Fee: One-time $10 (For Single & Family Memberships)
Annual Family Membership:

$15/month for 2 members

Add $5 for each extra family member (13+ years)

Payment is due by the 2nd day of each month.

General Note:

Membership Fees Covers: volleyball & badminton nets, poles, volleyballs, badminton birdies (nylon).

Members bring their own badminton rackets.

No badminton June-August; volleyball played outdoors

Option to freeze your membership for the full months you are not available to play, with two-week advance notice by email to starsstalbert@gmail.com.
